Madeleine Mytkowski

I’m Maddie, a director based in Sydney, Australia. With a foundation in writing, directing, producing and editing, I love telling stories of all forms on-screen. For me, tackling a visually compelling narrative, one that captures audience attention and elicits a strong emotional reaction, is what it’s all about.

My style sits between drama and documentary. I love to create stories that are anchored in reality, but that feel more powerful than our day-to-day lives. I have a knack for drawing out great performances, cinematic visuals and a keen sense of tone/atmosphere to deliver an immersive viewer experience. 

I'm a two-time Australian Directors Guild nominee and VCA grad. My films have screened at Adelaide Film Festival, Brisbane International Film Festival, Revelation Perth International Film Festival, Flickerfest, St Kilda Film Festival and Antenna Documentary Film Festival among others. 

All in all, I just really love directing. It's fun, and I'm lucky to do it. I hope you enjoy taking a look at some of my work, and perhaps we’ll collaborate together one day.
